for my mid term i attempted to recreate an item from an old game known as the frost fire axe the wiring was pretty basic it was a simple connection of lights to female wires then connecting them as we learned in class for basic leds. the coding was a bit more complex the commands and controls for the lights came from the rotation of the handle and the rotation of the head of the axe. i set roll and pitch to each turn on certain pins to activate lights based on which direction the axe is tiled or rotated. tilted controlling the red fire side, and rotation controlled the white ice side. then set the value of roll if the square root becomes more than 15 the lights for one side come on and the same control for pitch on the other side. i got the idea for rotation controls from another classmate who also used the idea to control her project.
